Advocating little steps for a big change in environment

Green Business

Shubhra Tripathi, owner of Lucknow's first zero-waste and vegan products store, is reaching out to people to explain how we are causing harm to the environment and animals

Q: What is your enterprise all about?

Our enterprise is all about making a change in society and making people aware of what kind of harm they are causing to the environment and themselves, by using plastic products and chemically processed products. So, we offer them a plastic-free environment as well as chemical-free groceries, and many more options that are eco-friendly and vegan too.

Q: How did you come across an idea for such a venture?

I started following Acharya Prashant and due to his teachings, I became vegan and started making myself aware of environmental studies. I got in touch with organizations that are working for animal rights, the environment, and veganism. And, during a training with Nature Club Foundation, we got to know how chemically processed food, plastic, and animal-derived products were harming us and our environment. Then I started to find such eco-friendly and vegan products near me but wasn't able to because no one was offering such products in my city. So, I wanted to start a zero-waste store that was eco-friendly and vegan friendly too.

Q: What were the major challenges you faced and the ways you overcame them?

The challenge is that people here in Lucknow are not keen on such concepts. So, we have to reach out to many people and have to explain to them how we are causing harm to the environment and animals.

Q: Where do you see yourself in two years from now?

We see ourselves making more and more people aware of the environment, bringing change in this society, and helping them to make a change by providing our eco-friendly products to the masses.

Q: What is your message to those wanting to follow suit?

The people are causing the death of the environment and themselves too by using plastic more and more. Nowadays studies come out that human blood contains microplastic. The major causes of cancer are microplastics and pesticides in food. More and more heart attacks are seen nowadays. The major reason for that also is plastic, chemically treated food and animal-derived products. So, if you want a healthy life and healthy environment you have to shift to zero waste, natural farming products and think about how our little steps are helping better the environment.
