Green Update

This Earth Day, Lucknow Farmers Market is celebrating sustainability with a fun and creative activity — the “Peel-to-Plate Challenge" on April 5, at Habibullah Estate, Hazratganj. It is a part of our efforts to encourage simple, sustainable cooking habits. The idea is simple: turning everyday fruit and vegetable peels into something delicious and creative, showing how kitchen scraps can become the star of the plate. It’s a small reminder that mindful cooking and reducing food waste can be both easy and inspiring. The most creative zero-waste dish will receive special gifts from Manjulika of Manjulika’s Kitchen.

LFM Holi Bazaar & Women’s Day celebrations

On March 1, the historic Habibullah Estate in Hazratganj transformed into a vibrant hub of conscious living as the Lucknow Farmers Market hosted its much-awaited Holi Bazaar & Women’s Day Edition. This Holi edition was more than a festive marketplace; it was a living celebration of sustainability, cultural heritage, and women-led entrepreneurship. Rooted in tradition yet forward-looking in spirit, it reflected a commitment to celebrations that honour both people and planet while supporting rural farmers, artisans, and emerging startups, and spotlighting inspiring women at the heart of resilient communities. “We are proving that sustainability isn’t a chore—it’s a celebration of our heritage and a direct investment in our rural farmers, artisans and startups,” said founder Jyotsna Kaur Habibullah. Carnival Highlights include Phoolon ki Holi, an eco-conscious return to tradition using fresh flower petals instead of synthetic colours, encouraging environmentally responsible festivities. Groups of friends and family enjoyed the vibrant flowers in the garden. Women’s Day Special is all year round for LFM as they showcase women-led enterprises and grassroots entrepreneurs, strengthening local livelihoods and creative businesses.  In alignment with Lucknow’s recognition as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, visitors enjoyed seasonal delicacies including Gujiya, Thandai, freshly baked goodies, traditional snacks and artisanal farm offerings. Community & Culture: Celebrating Lucknow’s Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb with a communal Iftar gathering fostering togetherness and shared traditions was a highlight of the market. Youth & Sustainability Engagement: ‘Friday for Future’ activities including Climate Pledges, seed ball making, and interactive awareness sessions encouraged environmental responsibility among young citizens. Workshops & Performances featured a full day of live music, poetry, open mic sessions, wellness experiences, and hands-on workshops such as incense making and upcycling created an immersive cultural atmosphere.
